Importing electric scooters involves more than choosing a model and negotiating a price. A detailed checklist helps buyers reduce misunderstandings, compare quotations correctly, and prepare for production and shipment.

1. Define the Product Specification

Confirm the model, motor power, battery voltage and capacity, controller, charger input, maximum speed, expected range, brakes, tires, suspension, lights, display, seat, storage, alarm, and accessories.

Ask the supplier to issue a specification sheet. If a component or function is important, record it in writing rather than relying only on catalog descriptions.

2. Confirm the Destination Market

Tell the factory where the vehicles will be sold and how they will be used. Technical and labeling requirements can vary by country or region. Importers are responsible for understanding local rules and should confirm which documents are available for the selected configuration.

The battery and charger may have separate requirements. Check transportation, labeling, plug, voltage, language, and user-manual needs.

3. Approve the Sample

A sample allows the buyer to review appearance, riding performance, charging, dimensions, packaging, and workmanship. Record all approved changes in a final sample report and specification sheet.

Do not begin mass production until logos, colors, decals, labels, manuals, accessories, and packaging have been approved.

4. Review the Quotation Carefully

Check what the price includes. Confirm the vehicle configuration, battery, charger, packaging, spare parts, customization, tooling, and trade terms. Quotations that appear similar may use different components.

Also confirm the MOQ, sample cost, deposit, balance payment, production lead time, quotation validity, and method for handling specification changes.

5. Plan Packaging and Loading

International shipping requires strong packaging. Ask for carton dimensions, gross and net weight, internal protection, vehicle fixation, loading quantity, and battery packing information.

Custom cartons, labels, barcodes, shipping marks, and manuals should be approved before printing. A packaging sample or photos can prevent expensive corrections.

6. Prepare Spare Parts

Discuss a recommended spare-parts package based on the order quantity and local service plan. Common items may include controllers, chargers, displays, lights, brake parts, cables, tires, body panels, switches, and batteries.

Confirm part numbers and compatibility. Importers should also know how replacement parts will be ordered after the original shipment.

7. Arrange Inspection

Create a pre-shipment inspection plan that covers quantities, specifications, appearance, operation, packaging, labels, accessories, and documentation. Decide whether inspection will be completed by the factory, the buyer, or a third party.

Any issue should be documented and resolved before container loading.

8. Confirm Shipping Details

Before shipment, verify the consignee information, destination port, freight arrangement, trade terms, packing list, commercial invoice, loading schedule, and required transport documents.

For battery-powered vehicles, work with experienced logistics providers and confirm the requirements for the selected route.
